Philately

Philately is the scientific study and/or collection of Stamps, postal history and other related items (like First Day Cover, Miniature Sheets, Brochure, Sheetlets). You could even study stamps without physically possessing those stamps.

As I think about stamps, my memory recollects the person and the incident which introduced me to this wonderful Hobby. Yes, it was my friend who introduced the habit of stamp collecting and he is Mr Asok Kalidas, my school and college mate. The incident as I could recollect is, "he got permission from our school Principal Sr.Celina for taking me to a Stamp Exhibition at Mettupalayam Head Post Office (HPO) when we were studying 6th or 7th".

It was these two people who were the reason me being a Philatelist now. Friends can induce you into some wonderful things like this. At this moment Thanking them, I am taking forward to share my knowledge and view on Philately as I perceived.
