Numbers, the very basics of the counting system, for calculations, in mathematics, economics and whatnot. There are different number systems like Binary (2), Octal (8), Decimal (10), Hexadecimal (16), Vigesimal (20), Sexagesimal (60). The numbers are represented using different scripts/languages differently, the very famous being Arabic and Roman. The most common numeral system in use is Decimal which is represented using Arabic numerals.

Base System:

Binary:
0 (OFF), 1 (ON) 

Octal:
0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

Hexadecimal:
0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, a, b, c, d, e, f

Vigesimal:

This system was used by Mayan Civilization. Since there are 10 fingers in hands and leg, their base could have been set to 20.


Sexagesimal:

This system was used by Sumerians and Babylonians. They used the section of fingers for counting (each finger has 3 sections), 20*3 = 60. Some people believe this was an amalgamation of base 5 and base 12 systems from two different civilization.


Note: This system does not have separate representation for "0", but was aware of it.

Initially, when I heard about Base60, I thought there would 60 unique notations, maybe that is the reason it is named Base60. Looking closely, we have only 2 symbols, a symbol to represent '1' and a symbol for '10'. 

Remember: BaseN doesn't mean it has 'N' unique symbols to represent digitals in the numbers in that system like in binary, decimal, octal and hexadecimal. Simply, you can count upto 'N', another system is vigesimal where there are only 3 symbols for Base20. 


Representation/Scripts:

Decimal system is widely used, so all the below representation scripts represent the decimal number system.

Arabic Numerals:
0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

Roman Numerals:
I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, C, M

Tamil Numerals:
௦, ௧, ௨, ௩, ௪, ௫, ௬, ௭, ௮, ௯, ௰, ௱,

Malayalam Numerals:
൦, ൧, ൨, ൩, ൪, ൫, ൬, ൭, ൮, ൯, ൰, ൱, 

Kannada Numerals:
೦, ೧, ೨, ೩, ೪, ೫, ೬, ೭, ೮, 

Telugu Numerals:
౦, ౧, ౨, ౩, ౪, ౫, ౬, ౭, ౮, 

Devanagari Script:
०, १, २, ३, ४, ५, ६, ७, ८, ९

Chinese Numerals:

〇, 一, 二, 三, 四, 五, 六, 七, 八, 九, 十, 百, 千

Kiliki Numbers:

The modern researchers and language enthusiasts also started coming up with their own scripts for representing numbers. With the popularity of the Blockbuster movie "Baahubali", the language Kiliki was created by Madhan Karky.







In the above number system, each symbol used has the number of sides same as the number it represents. 

Following the footsteps, we are in the process of creating a Simple Numeral Representation System called "Ammu". 

Ammu System:

Ammu means pure and happiness. Learning maths and numbers should be a joyful and happy process for the child.
