Deltiology is the study and collection of postcards, and person who does this is called Deltiologist. The hobby looks more closely associated with philately as postcards were used for communications. Deltiologist could collect postcards from post office or any private organisation, compared to philately, postcards are printed in decentralized fashion making it hard to identify the date and place of production.
Unlike, stamp & coin, I was not very keen on postcards collection, but still I used to keep the postcards I receive safely if it attracts me. Also being frank, I never knew it was a separate hobby also.
Recent January, got a opportunity to attend a session on 27th (2017) at Satchidananda Jothi Nikethan School, Mettupalayam by CMPG - Tamilnadu, Mr. Charles lobo. He introduced to all of us a easiest and surprising way of collecting postcards around the world through a project called "PostCrossing"
