தமிழ் இனி மெல்லச்சாகும் ???

     சமீபத்தில் அமெரிக்காவின் அலாஸ்கா மாநிலத்தில் "மரியா ஸ்மித் ஜோனெஸ்" என்ற பெண்மணி இறந்து விட்டார். ஒன்பது பிள்ளைகளுக்கு தயான இவர் இறக்கும் போது இவருடைய வயது 89. இவருடைய இறப்பு பலருக்கு துயரத்தை கொடுத்துள்ளது. அவருடைய இழப்பை யாராலுமே ஈடு செய்ய முடியாது என்று சொல்கிறார்கள். பழங்குடி இனத்தை சேர்ந்த மரியா ஸ்மித் அலாஸ்காவில் வாழும் பழங்குடி மக்களின் உரிமைக்காகபல போராட்டங்களை மேற்கொண்டவர். 

       ஆனால் அவருடைய இறப்பு யாராலும் ஈடு செய்ய முடியாததாக பார்க்கப்படுவதற்கு காரணம் அது இல்லை. உண்மையான காரணம்,மரியா ஸ்மித் போகும் போது ஒரு மொழியையும் தன்னுடனே சேர்த்துக் கொண்டு போய் விட்டார். ஆம், அலாஸ்காவின் பழங்குடி மக்களின்மொழிகளில் ஒன்றான "ஏயக்" என்கின்ற மொழியை பேசத் தெரிந்தஉலகின் கடைசி மனிதராக அவர் மட்டும்தன் இருந்தார். அவர் இறந்ததன் பிறகு இன்றைக்கு உலகில் யாருக்குமே அந்த மொழியை பேசத் தெரியாது.

        அவர் இறந்த தினத்தொடு  உலகில் உள்ள பல மொழிகளில் ஒரு மொழிஅழிந்து விட்டது. மரியா ஸ்மித்திற்கு ஒன்பது பிள்ளைகள் இருந்தும்,யாருமே "ஏயக்" மொழியை கற்பதற்கு ஆர்வம் காட்டவில்லை. எல்லோரைப் போன்று அவர்களும் ஆங்கிலம் கற்பதும், பேசுவதும்தான் நாகரீகமாதும், தேவையானதும் என்ற கருத்தோடு இருந்து விட்டார்கள்."ஏயக்" மொழியைப் பேசும் கடைசி மனிதராக தான்தான் இருக்கப் போகின்றேன் என்ற விடயம் மரியா ஸ்மித்திற்கு அன்றைக்கு தெரிந்திருந்ததா என்பதும் தெரியவில்லை.

      "ஏயக்" மொழி பேசத் தெரிந்த மரியா ஸ்மித்தின் ஒரு சகோதரி1993இலேயே இறந்து விட்டார். அதன் பிறகு மரியா ஸ்மித்தோடு "ஏயக்"மொழியில் உரையாடுவதற்கு யாருமே இருக்கவில்லை. "ஏயக்" மொழிஅழிந்து விடக் கூடாது என்பதற்கு மரியா ஸ்மித் சில நடவடிக்கைகளைமேற்கொண்டார். ஒரு மொழியியல் வல்லுனரின் உதவியோடு "ஏயக்"மொழிக்கான அகராதியையும், இலக்கண நூலையும் தயாரித்தார். இனிமேல் யாராவது இந்த நூல்களின் உதவியோடு ஏயக் மொழியை கற்றுப் பேசினால் மட்டும்தான், அந்த மொழி மீண்டும் உயிர் பெறும். ஏயக் மொழிக்கு மட்டும்தான் இந்த நிலைமை என்று இல்லை. உலகின் பெரும்பாலான மொழிகளின் நிலைமை இதுதான். இரண்டு வாரத்திற்குஒரு முறை உலகின் ஏதோ ஒரு மூலையில் ஒரு மொழி அழிவதாக மொழியியல் வல்லுனர்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றார்கள்.

            மரியா ஸ்மித் வாழ்ந்த அலாஸ்காவில் பேசப்படுகின்ற மொழிகளில் மேலும் 20 மொழிகள் விரைவில் அழிந்து விடும் நிலையில் இருக்கின்றன.உலகம் எங்கும் மொழிகள் அழிந்து வரும் வேகம் அதிகரிக்கின்றதே தவிர குறையவில்லை. ஒரு மொழி அழிகின்ற பொழுது ஒரு இனத்தின்பண்பாடு அழிகிறது. இன்னும் சொல்வது என்றால் ஒரு இனமே அழிகிறது. அழிகின்ற மொழிகளில் பெரும்பாலானவை பல ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முற்பட்ட மிகப் பழமையான மொழிகள். அந்தமொழிகளுக்குள் மனித குலத்தின் வரலாற்றின் பெரும் பகுதி புதைந்துகிடக்கின்றது. மொழிகளோடு மனித குலத்தின் வரலாற்று உண்மைகளும்அழிந்து போகின்றன. இன்றைக்கு உலகிலே வாழுகின்ற அறுநூறு கோடிமக்களும் மொத்தம் ஆறாயிரம் மொழிகளைப் பேசுகின்றார்கள். நூறு ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு இந்த ஆறாயிரம் மொழிகளிலே அறுநூறுமொழிகள் மட்டுமே மிஞ்சியிருக்கும். மிச்சம் ஐந்தாயிரத்து ஐந்நூறுமொழிகளும் அழிந்து விடும். இது மொழியியல் வல்லுனர்களின் தீவிரமான ஒரு எச்சரிக்கை. இன்றைக்கு பேசப்படுகின்ற ஆறாயிரம் மொழிகளில் மூவாயிரம் மொழிகளை ஆயிரத்திற்கும் குறைவானவர்களேபேசுகின்றார்கள். ஏறக்குறைய ஆயிரத்து ஐந்நூறு மொழிகளை நூறு பேர் வரையிலானவர்களே பேசுகிறார்கள். ஐந்நூறு மொழிகளை வெறும் பத்துப்பேர்தான் பேசுகிறார்கள்.

              ஒரு மொழி நிலைத்து நிற்பதற்கு ஆகக் குறைந்தது ஒரு இலட்சம்பேராவது அந்த மொழியை பேச வேண்டும் என்பது மொழியியல் வல்லுனர்களின் கருத்து. அந்த வகையில் தமிழ் மொழி தற்போதைக்கு அழியாது என்று நம்பலாம். உலகில் மிக அதிகமானவர்களால்பேசப்படுகின்ற இருபது மொழிகளின் பட்டியலில் தமிழும் இருக்கின்றது.கல்வெட்டில் இருந்து கணணி வரை தமிழ் மொழி பரந்து நிற்கின்றது.ஆனால் ஒரு மொழி அழிவதற்கு தேவையான அனைத்துக் காரணங்களையும் தமிழ் மொழியும் கொண்டுதான் இருக்கின்றது என்பது இதிலே ஒரு அபாயகரமான செய்தி. ஒரு மொழி அழிவதற்கான முக்கிய காரணங்களாக சில விடயங்கள் சுட்டிக் காட்டப்படுகின்றன. மொழிக்குள் மற்றைய மொழிகளின் ஊடுருவலும் ஆதிக்கமும், வட்டாரப் பேச்சு வழக்குகள் தனி மொழிகளாக கிளர்வது, இளந்தலைமுறை மொழியைகற்கவும் பேசவும் ஆர்வம் அற்று இருப்பது போன்றவை ஒரு மொழி அழிவதற்கு முக்கிய காரணங்கள். வேற்று மொழிகளின் ஊடுருவல் தமிழுக்குள் மித மிஞ்சிப் போய் கிடக்கின்றது.

            எத்தனையோ சொற்களை, அவைகள் தமிழ் சொற்களா இல்லையா என்பதை அறிவதே மிகக் கடினமாக இருக்கின்றது. அதே போன்று பல துறைகளில் ஆங்கிலம் போன்ற மொழிகளின் ஆதிக்கம் இருக்கின்றது.வட்டாரப் பேச்சு வழக்கு மொழிகளாக இருந்தவை தனி மொழிகளாக பிரிந்து போனதையும் தமிழ் மொழி சந்தித்திருக்கின்றது. இன்றைக்கு தமிழ் கொண்டிருக்கும் நூற்றுக் கணக்கான வட்டார மொழிகள் நாளை தனி மொழிகளாக மாறி விடாது என்று உறுதியாக நம்புவதற்கு போதுமான காரணங்கள் இல்லை. "பொதுவான தமிழ்" இன்றைக்கு எழுத்தில்மட்டும்தான் இருக்கின்றது. ஆனால் "வட்டார மொழி இலக்கியங்கள்" என்ற பெயரில் வருகின்ற அதிகரித்த படைப்புக்கள் இதற்கும் முடிவு கட்டி விடுமோ என்ற அச்சத்தைக் கொடுக்கின்றது. தமிழ் நாட்டின் சென்னை போன்ற பெரு நகரங்களிலும், புலம் பெயர்ந்த நாடுகளிலும் வாழும் இளந்தலைமுறை தமிழை எவ்வளவு தூரம் பேசுவதற்கும், கற்பதற்கும்ஆர்வம் காட்டுகிறார்கள் என்பது அனைவரும் அறிந்த ஒன்றுதான்.

         இன்றைக்கும் தமிழ் மொழி உயிரோடு இருப்பதன் ஒரே ஒரு காரணம்,தமிழை பேசுபவர்கள் ஆறு கோடிக்கும் மேற்பட்டவர்களாக இருப்பதுதான்.ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையின் அறிக்கை ஒன்றில் முப்பது ஆண்டுகளில்அழியப் போகின்ற மொழிகளில் ஒன்றாக தமிழும் இருப்பதாக செய்தி ஒன்று சில ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு ஊடகங்களில் வெளிவந்து பரபரப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியது. ஆனால் முப்பது ஆண்டுகளில் எல்லாம் தமிழ் அழிந்து விடாது. முப்பது ஆண்டுகள் என்பது மிகைப்படுத்தப்பட்ட ஒன்று. அதே வேளை நீண்ட காலத்திற்கு நாம் இப்படி இறுமாப்போடு இருக்கமுடியாது. பேசுபவர்களின் எண்ணிக்கையில் மட்டும் ஒரு மொழியின் இருப்பு தங்கியிருக்க முடியாது. எண்ணிக்கையும் மாறுபடக் கூடிய ஒன்றுதான். மொழி அழிவதற்கு தேவையான மற்றைய காரணிகளும்தமிழில் இருக்கின்றன. ஆகவே தமிழ் மொழி நீடித்து நிலைக்க வேண்டும்என்ற சிந்தனை ஒவ்வொரு தமிழரின் நெஞ்சிலும் இருந்தால் மட்டும்தான், தமிழ் மொழி நீண்ட காலத்திற்கும் நிலைக்கும். இல்லையென்றால் "அழிந்து போன மொழிகளின் பட்டியலில்" தமிழ் இடம் பெறுவது தவிர்க்க முடியாததாகி விடும். மரியா ஸ்மித் ஜோனிஸின் உடலோடு "ஏயக்" மொழியும் புதைக்கப்பட்டுவிட்ட இந்த நாளில் தமிழர்களைப் பார்த்து சொல்லக் கூடிய செய்தி இதுதான்.

Bosch Interview

           Friday 10th Dec, was the Bosch placement. 2 days after the memorable and unforgettable NSS Camp. Got to the hall and usual waiting was on.

           The test was started all of a sudden and moved to the next hall to find a place. The question paper was given. The paper was easy. Was confident of clearing the test for many reasons. Since i have to meet PRO for the work of Naaval tree, myself along with Akila met him. 

          Then was caught and made to sit inside the hall for the presentation. The presentation was mokka while start, then i started getting interest, i was taken when i saw the video of the Bosch Car and the features.  Chance less !!!.

          Then the results were announced. Its was told that not many cleared the cutoff. I thought i would clear, but i didnt. Since i was pre-occupied with other work, no time to think where things went wrong. 

          Evening before leaving college, I heard from swathi that the key was wrong for IT and CSE.So they will have the interview for us separately if we clear the written test.

          14th Dec:  I got a mail from placement cell with the list of revised names for attending the Bosch Interview. The scheduled date was 17th Dec and it was a holiday.

          17th Dec: Reached College by 8.40 am and was waiting with my friends Muthu kumar and Allwin. Time on my hand watch was 9:03 am, placement officer was shouting that where are the other guys. While he was speaking and asking others to call the selected students from their class to attend the interview. I was on call and explaining nivas about the situation and asking him and palraj to come as soon as possible. Informed deepak also to come as early as possible, his name was the first name on the selected list.

           9:20 AM : I was called on for my interview. I didnt think of anything or prepare anything on the day or the day before the interview. Then started my interview.  I was welcomed by the HR with a good morning. With a good smile i moved near the chair. She asked me to take my seat.

HR : Tell me more about yourself.
me : i told abt me and ending it with my club activities.

HR : Say me  the activities you did and  as a group you did?
me: I told my activities Earth hour.

HR:where are you from.?
me:Mettupalayam.

HR:Give me your resume.
after which i gave.Say me about my hobbies.?
me: teaching,blogging and  social activities.

(after having a glance of my resume)
HR: You have done only one project?
me: I told two, and the one you asked was a mini project.

HR: Which semester you did that?
me: 4th Semester.

HR:What is this Cyber Cipher?
me: I explained bout how the game works and told where the idea was taken from.
(she asked me for my mark sheets.)

HR:Have you learned Data structures?
me: Yes, Mam.

HR:Why do u need a separate Data Structures?
me:To properly organise data inside the system.

HR:Thats obvious, say me something different.
me:For variety of applications and use we may need data to be stored in different ways.
(she asked, what is this Grade system.I am not aware about this system, please do say me.I then explained about the weight age of the subjects, etc.)


HR:She asked do u know Java?
me:"YES".

HR:How do you rate yourself in JAVA?
me: about 5-6.

HR:Advantages of Java?
me: Explained about the platform independence.

HR:Difference between C and C++, C and Java, C++ and java, also VB and JAVA.
me: I spoke about the difference i know. 2 points each

HR:oh,You are proficient in Eclipse?
me: Yes.

HR:What is Eclipse?
me:Its a IDE(Integrated Development Environment) to work with J2EE.

HR:Advantages of OOPS?
me:i told about polymorphism and Inheritance.

HR:Explain inheritance first and then polymorphism.
me:I told abt inheritance with an example.

HR:Can you say what are the types of inheritance?
me: Single, Multiple, Multilevel, Hierarchical and Hybrid.

HR:She asked to explain it with a program,also she asked whether C++ and Java Supports this.
me:i told C++ supports whereas Java don't.Java dont, it uses interface for this.

HR:Explain polymorphism.
me:i told about overloading(operator and function) and overriding.

HR:Example?
me:I wrote a function which will draw different geometrical shapes.

HR:Whether can we "overload" operators?
me: Yes mam.

HR:Can we overload constructors.
me: NO mam, (after thinking for a moment).Yes, mam. We can have a Constructor with and without arguments,also copy constructor too.

HR:A program to explain overriding. and difference in java and C++.
me:(i struggled a bit in this). Then i explained the difference i know and i told in C++ it is this way,Java I dont know precisely.

HR:For DBMS, what author was used for reference?
me:I dont remember mam.(She gave a smile).

(after seeing my mark sheet and resume.)
HR:you have told in your resume' that DBMS is your AREA OF INTEREST, and why only C Grade in that?
me:During the subject was taught,i was not interested.Only during placements I gained interest mam.

HR: Apart from this what other subject you like?
me: Networks.

HR:What was the book you used?
me: William Stallings.(But it was for Network Security)

HR: Haven't you used Tanenbaum's book?
me: I have heard about him, but no mam we didnt.

HR:What are the types of network?
me:Told about LAN,MAN,WAN.

HR:protocols.?
me:TCP,UDP.

HR: Expand UDP?
me: Uniform...Sorry mam. User Datagram Protocol.

HR:What do u think u can do different in networking.
me:I am only a learner and I like the subject, as of now I cannot answer this question mam.

HR:" We are hiring all mechanical, ECE , EEE people with u IT And CSE people", what u think u can do different from them.?
me: We are programmer mam, they are not?

HR: Do you know different types of algorithm available?
me: Yes, Sliding window......

HR:Explain Sliding window algorithm.
me:I was explaining the various scenarios(She asked me many doubts and question on this)

HR: Done with you.
me:Thank you mam.

10:40 AM : I came out.My friends told me I went around 9:20. Nearly 1 Hour and 20 minutes, longest among one i have attended or seen.

Then I was selected for HR Round, which was announced after an hour. My friends Palraj, Deepak, Nivas went to CTS Bakery for eating something since they skipped their breakfast.

About 11.45 or 12.00 i was called for my HR Interview, but i was not wearing my tie. I removed Allwin tie overhead and in hurry i tied it and went in.

HR: Welcome Ramaguru!.

me: Thank you ( with a smile).

HR: Take your seat.

me: Thank you sir.

seeing me smiling.

HR: You seem so happy, any special or always you are happy.

me: I am always happy with things around me sir.

HR:Tell me about yourself.?

me: I told my same history.

HR: ok Ramaguru. What are your hobbies then?

me: Blogging, Teaching and Social Activities.

HR: Social Activities?

me: I told about NSS and Nature Club and I am the Student Coordinator.

HR:Thats nice!. You college looks good and greenery everywhere.

me: Thank you sir.

HR:What about Blogging?

me: Yes sir, I blog :)

HR:Say me your blog address.

me: Sir, if you Google my name you will get the link to my blog, 4th result.

HR:OK.On what all topics you blog.

me: Every topic and on any topic like my experience,nature, info. Even this interview experience.

HR: Oh, So you will write that today i had interview and SIVA KUMAR interviewed me.

me: I spoke about my school and Nair sir

HR; Great. We are happy with people like you and Sandhya( My college mate who attended the same panel before me). your hobbies are nice.

me: Thanks a lot sir.

me:Mettupalayam , near Ooty.

HR:Hmmm, So i will visit u when i come to Black Thunder(its a theme park in my place).

me:Sure sir.

HR: Where would you like to see you after 3 years.

me: As a team leader sir.

HR:Whats your long term goal?

me: I must feel happy and satisfied with my actions and help people around me as far as I can.

HR:What are your expectations from Bosch?

me: A good working environment, nice team mates, supportive boss.

HR:Only that,nothing else??

me: Of course, Salary Sir.

HR: Do you have any offers in your hand?

me: Yes sir, Wipro.

HR:Why you got placed in Wipro?

me: That was the first company i attended and its nice having a offer in hand.

HR: Whats their package?

me: about 3 sir.

HR: We in Bosch give 3.14 lakhs and spoke various aspects on the package.

me: Fine sir.

HR: I must see you in Bosch after 6 months, i.e., in the month of june or july?

me: you will sir.

HR: OK Ramaguru.Thank you.

With a Hand Shake I left the hall. I was almost confident , Moreover when my Friend Allwin went in,HR remarked my name to him when he told ,he is from my place Mettupalayam.

The results came on 20th Dec. I was selected, also my classmates Deepak and Priya were also selected along with me.

This is longest and nice interview so far i have attended. :) :)

mathematical model for the above situation and discuss the feasibility of
solution.

Which type of parent are you?

                One young academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a big company. He passed the first interview; the director did the last interview, made the last decision.The director discovered from the CV that the youths' academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, never had a year when he did not score.

     

                The director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarships in school?" The youth answered "none." The director asked, "Was it your father who paid for your school fees?" The youth answered, "My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees."

      

                The director asked, "Where did your mother work?" The youth answered, "My mother worked as clothes cleaner." The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect. The director asked, "Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?" The youth answered, "Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me."

                The director said, "I have a request. When you go back today, go and clean your mothers' hands, and then see me tomorrow morning." The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back, he happily requested his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange, happy but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to the kid. The youth cleaned his mothers' hands slowly. His tear fell as he did that. It was the first time he noticed that his mothers' hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful that his mother shivered when they were cleaned with water. This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes everyday to enable him to pay the school fee. The bruises in the mothers' hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his graduation, academic excellence and his future. After finishing the cleaning of his mother hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother. That night, mother and son talked for a very long time. Next morning, the youth went to the directors' office.

               The Director noticed the tears in the youths' eyes, asked: "Can you tell me what have you done and learned yesterday in your house?" The youth answered, "I cleaned my mothers' hand, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes."

The Director asked, "Please tell me your feelings.".

The youth said, "Number 1, I know now what is appreciation. Without my mother, there would not be the successful me today. Number 2, by working together and helping my mother, only I now realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done. Number 3, I have come to appreciate the importance and value of family relationship". The director said, "This is what I am looking for someone to be my manager. I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life. You are hired."

                Later on, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates. Every employee worked diligently and as a team. The company’s' performance improved tremendously.

               A child, who has been protected and habitually given whatever he wanted, would develop "entitlement mentality" and would always put him first. He would be ignorant of his parents' efforts. When he starts work, he assumes that every person must listen to him, and when he becomes a manager, he would never know the sufferings of his employees and would always blame others. For this kind of people, who may be good academically, may be successful for a while, but, eventually, would not feel the sense of achievement. He will grumble and be full of hatred and fight for more.

                If we are this kind of protective parents, are we really showing love or are we destroying the kid instead?

                You can let your kid live in a big house, eat a good meal, learn piano, watch a big screen TV. But when you are cutting grass, please let them experience it. After a meal, let them wash their plates and bowls together with their brothers and sisters. It is not because you do not have money to hire a maid, but it is because you want to love them in a right way. You want them to understand, no matter how rich their parents are, one day their hair will grow gray, same as the mother of that young person.  

Moral :The most important thing is your kid learns how to appreciate the effort and experience the difficulty and learns the ability to work with others to get things done.
